Markets Intelligence reviews a recent
CIA (Critical Issues Analysis) with a leading North American News Mining Group.
Client Requirements
The initial requirement of the engagement was to define the producer’s North American buy/sell-side profile. The client needed ‘market radar’ which defined market analysis and expectations
of a recently completed merger with a smaller mid.tier producer. Clarification of these elements would form the basis of an effective, strategy review, next phase advisory and renewed strategic IR plan.
Review Process
Markets Intelligence took on the challenge by leveraging a (15) buy/sell-side analyst based custom review of Global
Precious Metals. This comprehensive 3 day review defined/analyzed critical sector/client issues; corporate profiles; peer group comparative analysis; stock analysis and IR/marketing benchmarking.
The report was delivered in two sections: a Full Sector Report and a proprietary Strategic
CIA - Critical Issues Analysis ‘Roadmap’ with detailed analysis including a review of the top
10 global players across all sub-segments derived from 10+ top buy/sell-side analyst interviews.
Benefits
The client evaluated the impact of MI’s ‘70:20:10’ Matrix findings from the review and presented both findings & MI advisory to its board and new senior executives: These covered: critical issues analysis (CEO/leadership;
M&A impact evaluation; major shareholder & sell-side responses/expectations; market profile versus peer-competitors; etc.); strategy review/advisory; strategic IR advisory ‘roadmap’, peer group competitive analysis, and investor profile analysis.
Impact
The client was able to use MI’s CIA ‘Roadmap’ to shape strategy definition and
the new expanded company market profile, brief a still relatively new chief executive
& board, upgrade IR/marketing, address key market concerns impacting stock valuation, and achieve
indirect improvements in market positioning with investors and analysts.
